John Humphreys has trawled through the archives and harassed the old folk all in the name of composing a history of the club.

Club Update

12 04 2013

The plague of small village teams (i.e. lack of players who can commit to a full season) has meant that for the first time in the fifteen years I’ve been playing with Wrotham, we are unable to field a Saturday side this year.  It also meant we had to withdraw from the Kent League.  Again, another first in living memory. Very sad but we’ll be back.

In complete contrast to this, our Sunday side is going from strength to strength and will be fielding a strong side this year. All our hopes and ambitions lie on the broad (if somewhat crippled) shoulders of Ant and his men.

In memoriam, Anne Witts

18 09 2012

It is with great sadness that I have to inform you of the passing of Anne Witts. A key member of our little club, both in her official capacity as club secretary and as scorer on a Sunday, her enthusiasm and willingness to just roll up her sleeves and get stuck in is an example to us all.

She will be greatly missed. Our thoughts are with Geoff and his family over this period.

Curry Night

18 09 2012

A date for your diary – Saturday 27th October. We’re all meeting up at Zeera’s in Borough Green to celebrate another successful season with a chicken vindaloo and a beer.

If you feel like helping us relive the highs and lows of 2012 then please let either Russ Fennell, Rick Bryce or Nigel Malyan know.

It all worked out in the end

Bexleyheath – away – won

At least we had a team

Petts Wood Tudor – home – abandoned

Having scoured the village to come up with eleven the heavens opened and washed out our game. Unbelievable.

Houdini Moves Into Wrotham ….

Kings Hill – away – conceded

…. and made the whole team disappear. There can be no other explanation for  the complete lack of players.

Where Did Everyone Go?

11 08 2012

GHS Dartford – home – conceded

OK, so maybe people were tired with all that olympic stuff and they needed a holiday as everyone is away this week. Three people does not a team make.
